Summer Solstice ride

The days are longer during the summertime in Iceland. From early May until middle of August the nights are bright.

The longest days of the year in Iceland, The summer solstice, is around 20th–22nd of June. On these days the sun sets just after midnight and rises again just before 3am.

When you look into consideration that the sunrise will only be a couple of hours later, then you’ll realize that though the sun isn’t up, it is still bright. The slow sunsets and sunrises sometimes make incredibly displays of colourful skies.

The tour starts at our farm, Syðra-Langholt at 10pm. We will ride along Stóra-Laxá river and then we ride to our mountain, Langholtsfjall which has stunning views to the infamous volcano Hekla and to the glacier Eyjafjallajökull who erupted 2010 and managed to ground all of Europe´s air traffic.

Around midnight we will be at the top of Langholtsfjall, there will be waiting for us some refreshments. We will enjoy the stunning view and watch the amazing sunset. Please notice that if it´s raining or the sky is unclear it might not be possible to see the sunset. After midnight we ride back home to our farm where the tour ends.

You will see wonderful landscape and get to know the friendly Icelandic horses. We will ensure you will get personal and friendly service.
